Top Earning Films in Bollywood for year 2015

Here we stand at the tip of year 2015, I just gathered some Bollywood Box-Office data for you. Year passed was a roller coaster ride of big blockbusters and record breaking box office collections. Let us look at Top 10 movies by their gross collections.

No.10 - Singh is Bliing (Avg)

• Rs. 20.67 cr - Opening Day

• Rs. 89.95 cr - Lifetime 

+Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Kay Kay Menon starer Singh is Bliing which was directed Prabhu Dheva released on 2nd October 2015 managed to list itself into this countdown at No.10. Its gross collection is Rs. 89.98 crores. This movie minted Rs. 20.67 crores on its opening day.

• Rs. 95.56 cr - Lifetime collection

Yet another +Akshay Kumar starer film Baby is standing at No.9. Neeraj Pandey directorial Baby, which collected just Rs.9.3 cr on its opening day later managed to mint the gross of Rs.95.56 cr. Baby featured other actors as +Taapsee Pannu, +Rana Dagubatti and +Anupam Kher. It released on 23rd January 2015.

Anees Bazmee directed film Welcome Back which was squeal to their earlier hit movie Welcome released on 4th September 2015. Welcome Back featured heavy weight stars such as John Abraham, Nana Patekar, +Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and +Shruti Haasan. Film initially collected Rs. 14.35 cr on its opening day and went to grab Rs. 96.69 cr.

No.7 - Any Body Can Dance - 2 (Avg)

• Rs. 14.3 cr - Opening Day collection

• Rs. 105.74 cr - Lifetime collection

Ace choreographer +Remo D'Souza's squeal attempt for his ABCD franchise released on 19th June 2015 with more power-pack star cast and expectations with it. ABCD2 brought Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Prabhu Deva and more. Remo managed to mint decent collection at box office on its opening day with Rs. 14.3 cr. But for delight this movie became one of the few films to cross 100 cr mark and Any Body Can Dance 2 grossed Rs. 105.74 cr.

SS Rajamouli's epic film Bahubali was biggest hit of 2015. This was the first Telugu film to break many records such as Fastest South Indian film to Reach 100 cr mark, Highest grossing film World wide, First to reach 300 cr mark and many more. But here we compared only the Hindi version of it which managed to stay at No.6.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic movie on Bajirao which was one of the most awaited films of year 2015 featured artists like Ranveer Singh, +Deepika Padukone, +Priyanka Chopra. As Bajirao clashed its opening with another big banner film #Dilwale and it was Clash of titans at Box Office. Bajirao Mastani minted Rs. 12.8 cr on its opening day and till date it managed to collected Rs. 120.45 cr. Sanjay's movie is giving tough competition to Rohit Shetty, Shah Rukh Khan film Dilwale and running closely together.

No.4 - Dilwale (Running)

• Rs. 21.00 cr - Opening Day collection

• Rs. 123.88 cr - Lifetime collection (still running)

Dilwale was the most anticipated film of 2015, reason being most romantic pair of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol coming back on silver screen together after gap of decades. Also film was being made Rohit Shetty who is known as Hit Machine in the Bollywood industry.

Due to some tension over SRK's comments on Intolerance in India, Dilwale was publicized to ban or boycott by public. There were protests outside cinema halls all around India for not screening this movie. Even under such circumstances Dilwale managed to mint Rs. 21 cr on its opening day. Which was far ahead of Bajirao Mastani which released on same day and collected Rs. 12.8 cr. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starer Dilwale box office collection so far is recorded to be Rs. 123.88 cr.

No.3 - Tanu Weds Manu Returns (Blockbuster)

• Rs. 8.85 cr - Opening Day collection

• Rs. 150.77 cr - Lifetime collection

Tanu Weds Manu returned with its squeal in 2015 and for surprise of audiences and critics, this Aanand Rai film which started with slow pace by collecting Rs. 8.85 cr on its opening day went on to mint Rs. 150.77 cr and join the 100 Crore Club. Film had similar stars to its previous version R. Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut. Tanu Weds Manu Returns released on 22 May 2015.

Blockbuster combination Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya came together with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo this year. And the magic at Silver screens and Box office was surely expected. This movie hit screens on 12th November 2015 and collected highest opening day collection of 2015 of Rs. 40.35 cr. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo's gross collection so far is Rs. 210.16 and the number definitely deserves to be on top of the charts. 

No.1 - Bajrangi Bhaijaan (All time Blockbuster)

• Rs. 27.25 cr - Opening Day collection

• Rs. 320.34 cr - Lifetime collection

2015 became Salman Khan vs Salman Khan. We already saw above that PRDP which became highest opening day collection film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan settled at second highest opening day film. Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected Rs. 27.25 cr, but at the same time it broke all the records and became "All time Blockbuster" by minting Rs. 320.34 cr. 

Salman Khan's own film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which is still running at theaters and standing 2nd on this list is racing towards Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Its Win-Win situation for Salman Khan this year to become the most Promising star who gave back to back hit films which grossed more then Rs. 200 cr.
