As the notice was circulated an year ago by the Govt. to get your bore-well registered with the authority. This time it will be an alarming reminder for you.
Registering the bore-wells are declared as mandatory by Karnataka Government to around 12 districts & its 35 taluks as the places are recorded as overdrawing water. The effort to get the bore-wells registered was initiated by the government an year ago. But it looks like the message is not reached everyone yet.

THE KARNATAKA GROUND WATER (REGULATION AND CONTROL OF DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT) ACT, 2011
Registration of existing users in the notified areas.- (1) Every existing user of groundwater in the notified area shall within a period of one hundred twenty days from the date of declaration as notified area by the Government shall apply to the authority for grant of a certificate of a registration recognizing its existing use in such form and in such manner as may be prescribed.
I don't know it is registered or not...!?
Don't remember about whereas you bore-well is registered or not? Simple first step to check that is, look into your Water Bill. If you find Rs.50 or more charged in front of "borewell charge", then you can say you bore-well is registered.

What if it is not registered..?
If a bore-well is not registered, there could be chances you will need to pay Rs.10,000 fine and/or upto 10 years imprisonment, as per the notification received.
If you are planning to dig a new bore-well, you need to get a permission from the concerned Dept. the Department of Mines and Geology and register your bore-well with the Water Board once it is completed without fail.
Where can I get details of registration?
- Download the related forms from Dept. of Mines and Geology website here.
- Charges for the Domestic Bore-well will be Rs.50.
- For Commercial use the charges will be Rs.500.
- You will need to have a copy of your latest water bill and payment receipt.
- Water board will issue registration certificate once the application is scrutinized by the District Groundwater Office.
- Contact your nearest Water Board office for more clear details on this regards.

Do not interact with the agencies which claim to the people to get the registration done for them and collecting money. If any such agencies / person is approached to you, you can file a complaint directly to the below offices, said press note.
