By now you would have received an SMS from your Mobile service provider stating to link your Mobile with AADHAAR card to prevent deactivation of the services.
Yes, the government has confirmed that its going ahead with linking Aadhaar with the mobile number. And all the numbers which are not linked are going to be deactivated after February 2018 as per the sources.
How do I link my Mobile SIM to Aadhaar number?
Do not worry, we have got some information for you in this regard. To bring you the various options available to do this and prevent the deactivation of you mobile number.
Option 1
Linking Mobile number to Aadhaar for first time
Step 1
Visit your nearest Authorized Aadhaar center and submit a simple Update Form. The form will be available at the Aadhaar center or you can also go to the official website do download the form (https://uidai.gov.in/)
Please mention over the form "Only mobile number updated".
Step 2
You will have to verify with your biometric data, which will be done by the Agent in the centre.
Step 3
Collect the Acknowledgement slip from the Agent at the center. The update may take 10-12 days to be updated, and this can be tracked using the acknowledgment number.
Option 2
Addition or Updating a new mobile number
For those whose Mobile number is already updated before, but need to add a new number into it you need not visit the centre. This can be done by ourself online (http://uidai.gov.in/)Step 1
On visiting the UIDAI website, you can choose "Update Aadhaar Details (Online)". The page will open in a new window.
On the Self Service Update Portal, click on "Click here" at the bottom of the page to continue.
Step 2
Now, here you will have to enter you Aadhaar card number and continue with authentication. The OTP will be sent to your existing number to varify your details.
Step 3
Here on data updating request page select "Mobile Number" under "Select field(s)" section and Enter the new mobile number which you would like to link it with the Aadhaar card and Submit.
Step 4
If all of above goes right, the new number will get updated and you will get Update Request Number. This number can be used to check the status of your modification request.

Option 3
Third and easiest way to update or add you new number to Aadhaar card
Step 1Walk-in to any of mobile stores nearby
Step 2
Request the store for updating you new number to Aadhaar
Step 3
Provide your Aadhaar number and new Mobile number to be linked
Step 4
Share the OTP received on the phone with the store
Step 5
Store agent will take your Thumb print and biometric data to complete the eKYC verification.
Step 6
Need to reply "Yes" to the SMS received to confirm linkage of a new number to you card. This is a part of verfication and security step and must step to be followed.
