Gunjan Saxena, is one of the first female pilots to fly in battle and played
an important role in rescuing injured soldiers during the 1999
Kargil War. She was awarded the gallantry Shaurya Vir Award for displaying
courage during the war.
This surely looks like a filmy bite, and no wonder the inspirational story of a girl from Lucknow who had a big dream to become a pilot. Saxena hailed from a world that believed girls can't even drive cars and getting support from people for make them believe that she could fly a plane one day, that too on a war field is truly a dream come true. And also an perfect example for many more girls to aspire and achieve their dreams.
'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl', which brings the above real life story to Bollywood was ready to hit the theater screens on 13th March 2020. However, that release postponed on 24 April 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The good news is, the makers of the film Karan Johar announced on his twitter thread that the film is going to release on Netflix.
"Gunjan Saxena, a young girl from Lucknow with a big dream... She wanted to grow and become a pilot, but she lived in a world that believed girls can't even drive cards. would that world let Gunjan fly a plane? But she didn't care about the world. She just trusted her father, who always told her 'whether it's a man or a woman flying the plane, both are called pilots!" says the voice-over.
The films is directed by Sharan Sharma, who is known for assisting the 2013
film 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'
The upcoming biopic has music by Amit Trivedi, and is produced by Karan Johar,
Hiroo Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Dharma Productions and Zee Studios.
